Gossip

The group chat went to print.

You know the message. Two words, no punctuation, and suddenly the group chat has appointed itself a panel of experts. This imaginary column follows one harmless ‘you up?’ through eleven increasingly elaborate interpretations.

Our final, deeply unqualified verdict: put the phone down, make a snack, and ask what they meant tomorrow. Sometimes a full stop is just a full stop. Sometimes the real plot is the conversation you have with your friends afterwards.

Recipes

Something sweet. Very little effort.

For this demo recipe, slice a handful of strawberries and toss them with a little sugar and a squeeze of lemon. Leave them for five minutes while you toast a thick slice of bread. Spoon the fruit and its juices over a generous layer of yoghurt or soft cheese.

Finish with black pepper if you feel like it, or a little honey if you don’t. Eat over a plate, preferably away from your keyboard. This is sample editorial content for the prototype; the December recipe is still under wraps.

Big-sis Advice

You can leave the group chat.

Srishti taking a break at a café

Dear big sis: I keep agreeing to plans because I’m worried people will stop inviting me. Then I spend the whole evening wishing I were at home. Is there a way to say no without turning it into a five-paragraph apology? — An imaginary reader, with a very real dilemma.

Try a small, kind sentence: ‘I’m sitting this one out, but I’d love to see you another day.’ You can like your friends and need a quiet evening. Offer another plan if you want to; you don’t have to present evidence for being tired. This letter and reply are fictional demo copy.

Puzzles

A little brain break.

A small puzzle for the bit of your brain that has had enough of scrolling. Put the numbers 1 to 4 into the empty squares. Each row, column and outlined two-by-two box needs one of each number, with no repeats.

You can try the mini Sudoku here, check your answer, and start again whenever you like. It is a working demo puzzle for this website preview, rather than a scan or a promise about what will appear in the December issue.

Behind the page

Nepo Baby Magazine by Srishti Garg. The December issue is expected around mid-December.

Design concept and identity by Kerning Studio.

The magazine description is informed by Srishti’s August 2026 interview with Mid-day. December contents are not confirmed.

Sky and cloud photography by Leon Brooks, released into the public domain. Clouds are cut from the original photograph and animated as separate layers.

The walking characters, paper godrays and separate desk-scene cutouts are temporary imagegen photo-collage assets made for this demo. The desk scene uses photo-based head expressions and a seated collage body with dangling jeans and Mary Janes. Every object is a separate layer.

The portrait and gaze states are temporary imagegen artwork based on Srishti’s supplied photograph, which credits Komal Gopal. The pose and hands are generated.

The logo was extracted to a transparent PNG. The headline is hand-cut magazine-letter artwork made for this hero; its words remain real text for assistive technology.

The CRT housing is a generated cutout inspired by early-2000s beige Trinitron monitors. It keeps its proportions and uses a separate interactive screen. The former stretched monitor frames are no longer used.

The footer uses the supplied Colaba café photograph of Srishti with her coffee and spoon. The original photographic pixels remain, with a separate extraction matte. The pink flames and pen-drawn café background are generated illustration layers.

The desktop companion uses lasso masks over Srishti’s supplied polka-dot-top photograph: an oversized head and smaller armless body. The separate lower legs are temporary imagegen cutouts made at the user’s request. The coffee glass and previous-issue magazine come from her supplied photographs; the magazine shoot credits Komal Gopal. Hands use Apple emoji artwork from the emoji-data Apple image set. All pieces move independently. The illustrated sprite, red-curtain companion and earlier realistic pose sheets were rejected and are not used.

The desktop photo viewer and Fits archive use supplied Lily, casual-outfit, Colaba, Angel, Diva and portrait photographs. Lily and Angel editorial photography credits Komal Gopal. Sticker and birthday exports reuse these photographs and the companion’s separate cutouts. Stories, poems, journal prompts, advice and shelf examples are labelled demonstration editorial, pending Srishti’s actual selections. Visitors’ drafts, uploaded photographs and audio stay on their devices.

The Music app temporarily embeds Spotify’s lofi beats playlist as a demo choice. It is not presented as Srishti’s curated playlist.
